Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia is expected back this weekend after experiencing concussion-like symptoms the past few days, according to a report Wednesday night from Alex Spier of Boston's WEEI.com.
The Red Sox kick off a series at home in Fenway Park on Friday against the Blue Jays. Boston rookie Brock Holt has been manning second base during its series vs. the Yankees.
Josh Beckett will likely miss the rest of the season
Pedroia, a 31-year-old four-time All-Star, exited early from Saturday's loss to Tampa Bay after he was elbowed in the head by Logan Forsythe, who was sliding head first into second.
Pedroia is batting .280 in 131 games this year. The Sox are currently fifth in the AL East.
