Torii Hunter considering retirement after Tigers' ALDS loss
Detroit Tigers outfielder Torii Hunter admitted he's considering retirement after the Tigers' whirlwind season ended with a disappointing American League Division Series sweep at the hands of the Baltimore Orioles.
"I've thought about that a lot," Hunter said, according to MLB.com. "Just talk it over with my wife. We'll see what happens."
He added to Joel Sherman of the New York Post: "It's 100 percent serious, bro. I have been thinking about it a long time."
The 39-year-old Hunter will become a free agent this offseason. He told reporters that if he does return to play another season, he would like it to be with the Tigers. But it remains to be seen if the feeling is mutual.
Hunter went 2 for 10 in the ALDS, also walking twice. He showed the ability to still be productive at the plate this season, batting .286 with 17 homers, 83 RBI and a .765 OPS.
