NEW YORK (AP) Catcher Johnny Monell has agreed to a minor league contract with the New York Mets.

The 28-year-old Bronx native hit .238 with four homers and 24 RBIs in 68 games last year with Triple-A Norfolk and Albuquerque. He has a .264 average in 709 minor league games over eight seasons.
