The New York Yankees have traded catcher Francisco Cervelli to the Pittsburgh Pirates, reports Jon Heyman of CBS Sports

Joel Sherman of the New York Postreports the Yankees acquired left-handed reliever Justin Wilson in exchange for Cervelli.

The Pirates have reportedly been trying to re-sign free agent catcher Russell Martin, and Heyman reports that the trade for Cervelli does not affect their pursuit of Martin.

Cervelli played in 49 games for New York in 2014, hitting .301 with two home runs, 13 RBI and a .370 on-base percentage.

The 28-year-old has been with the Yankees his entire career. In August 2013, Cervelli was suspended 50 games in connection with the Biogenesis scandal.

Wilson, 27, pitched in 70 games for the Pirates this season. He recorded a 4.20 ERA and had 61 strikeouts in 60 innings while allowing 49 hits.
