Report: Red Sox to acquire pitcher Wade Miley from Diamondbacks
The Boston Red Sox have an agreement in principle to acquire starting pitcher Wade Miley from the Arizona Diamondbacks, reports Ken Rosenthal and Jon Morosi of Fox Sports.
In exchange for Miley, the Red Sox will send pitchers Rubby De La Rosa and Allen Webster to Arizona, along with a minor leaguer.
The two teams were reportedly discussing a Miley trade Tuesday night but publicly denied doing so.
Miley is coming off the worst of his three full major league seasons, having gone 8-12 with a 4.34 ERA in 2014, but has nonetheless emerged as a solid rotation piece in his time with the Diamondbacks. He was an All-Star and finished second in National League Rookie of the Year voting in 2012, going 16-11 with a 3.33 ERA, and recorded a 3.55 ERA in 2013.

Miley, 28, is eligible for arbitration this offseason and is under team control through 2017.
De La Rosa, 25, and Webster, 24, were originally acquired by the Red Sox from the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2012 as part of the Josh Beckett-Adrian Gonzalez-Carl Crawford trade.
De La Rosa made 18 starts and one relief appearance for Boston last season, going 4-8 with a 4.43 ERA, while Webster made 11 starts in 2014 and went 5-3 with a 5.03 ERA.

The Red Sox have had an active offseason, highlighted by their signings of third baseman Pablo Sandovaland infielderHanley Ramirez. The team also pursued starting pitcher Jon Lester, who played his entire career with Boston until he was traded to the Oakland A's in July, before Lester reportedly chose the Chicago Cubs.
