The Atlanta Braves have signed outfielder Eric Young Jr. to a minor league contract, according to MLB.com's Mark Bowman.
Young spent the previous two seasons with the New York Mets but was not tendered a contract in December.
Over 100 games last season, Young batted .229 with one home run and 17 RBI. The 29-year-old also recorded 30 stolen bases.
Bowman notes that Young, a switch-hitter, could serve as a platoon option in left field with Jonny Gomes, a right-handed hitter.
Atlanta went 79-83 and finished second in the National League East last season.
