Friday March 6th, 2015

New York Mets infielder Daniel Murphy suffered a right hand contusion during Friday's spring training game against the Detroit Tigers.

On Saturday, Murphy said x-rays on the hand were negative.

Murphy ran to first base shaking his right hand after being hit by a pitch from David Price but did not take the field with the Mets the next half inning.

He was replaced by Ruben Tejada at second base.

Murphy, 29, is entering his seventh season with the Mets.
