Arizona Diamondbacks trade Trevor Cahill to Atlanta Braves

The Atlanta Braves could reportedly secure the services of Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Trevor Cahill, according to multiple reports Thursday.

The receiving club would have to pick up at least half of Cahill's $12 million salary due in 2015, AZCentral reported Thursday.

USA Today's Bob Nightengale added context to the AZCentral report, saying Thursday that the team in contention for Cahill's services was the Atlanta Braves.

Cahill, 27, went 3-12 last season for Arizona with a 5.61 ERA, and split time between starting games and relief appearances. As a 22-year-old with the Oaklans Athletics in the 2010 season, Cahill was an All-Star and went 18-8 with a 2.97 ERA.

He was acquired by Arizona from Oakland in 2012 in a deal that included Craig Breslow, Jarrod Parker, Collin Cowgill and Ryan Cook.

The Diamondbacks added starters Jeremy Hellickson and Rubby De La Rosa to their pitching staff this past off-season.
