Diamondbacks edge Giants 7-6 behind HRs from Peralta, Lamb

PHOENIX (AP) Jake Lamb is off to a record start for the Arizona Diamondbacks and is determined to keep it going.

Lamb and David Peralta each hit a three-run homer to power the Diamondbacks to a 7-6 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday night. Lamb finished with four RBIs, giving him a club-record seven in Arizona's first two games.

He's already four RBIs away from his total from 37 games last season, and is the first player with seven or more RBIs in the first two games of the season since the Orioles' Chris Davis had seven in 2013.

''I feel comfortable at the plate right now. I just want to keep it going,'' Lamb said ''It's more comfortable in the clubhouse, on the field, just more comfortable with my swing, too. I didn't feel right last year, and it was kind of just a battle right when I got here. I feel really good. It's just about me maintaining it.''

All seven runs were charged to Giants starter Ryan Vogelsong (0-1), who allowed six hits in 4 2-3 innings. He walked four and struck out five.

Buster Posey and Brandon Crawford homered for the Giants. Posey had a two-run shot in the first inning off Diamondbacks starter Rubby De La Rosa (1-0), who allowed six runs and eight hits in 5 1-3 innings of his Arizona debut.

Posey was 3 for 3 with two RBIs.

The Diamondbacks' Paul Goldschmidt went 2 for 2, walked twice and stole a base.

Arizona manager Chip Hale picked up his first career managerial victory.

''It felt good,'' Hale said. ''We have been playing well. We ended the spring playing well. We played well last night, we battled. To fall behind by a couple of runs early, the guys stayed tough. They battled Vogelsong, they just kept coming at him scoring runs and the Giants kept coming back.''

The Giants led 2-0 after Posey's homer in the first. Peralta's homer in the third put the Diamondbacks ahead 4-2.

The Giants tied the game on Brandon Belt's RBI single in the fourth and Joe Panik's sac fly in the fifth before Lamb's homer in the bottom of the inning made it 7-4.

Crawford's homer in the sixth cut it to 7-5 and Hector Sanchez added an RBI double to make it a one-run game.

''"It's just hard because basically I wasted a good offensive night from our team,'' Vogelsong said. ''Any time we can go out and score six runs we should get a win. Those guys deserve a win for that.''

The Diamondbacks' bullpen combined for 3 2-3 scoreless innings. Addison Reed earned a save with two strikeouts in the ninth.

GONZALEZ TO BE HONORED:

Former Diamondbacks star Luis Gonzalez will be inducted into the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame in a ceremony on Wednesday. Gonzalez, a star of the 2001 Diamondbacks' championship season, is in his sixth season as special assistant to the president and chief executive officer of the club. He spent 19 seasons in the major leagues and leads the Arizona in games, home runs and RBIs.

TRAINER'S ROOM

Giants: Starting pitcher Matt Cain was placed on the 15-day disabled list before Tuesday's game with a right forearm injury, and will miss his scheduled start on Wednesday. He could be out another two or three weeks. ... Another starter, Jake Peavy, felt continued back soreness after a bullpen session Tuesday. Peavy is in line to start on Sunday at San Diego if he is cleared by medical staff, and a decision could come Wednesday. ''I hope that decision is for me to get the ball in the next few days. I'm as optimistic as I can be,'' Peavy said. ... Belt left the game with one out in the bottom of the fourth inning after going for a foul ball and pulling up. He suffered a strained groin, and was replaced by Joaquin Arias. Belt will have an MRI on Wednesday. ''Honestly, I don't think it's too bad,'' Belt said. ''Just do what I got to do to get back out there and . hopefully it won't be too long.''

Giants: Right-hander Chris Heston, called up from Triple-A Sacramento before Tuesday's game, gets the call against Arizona on Wednesday night. Heston appeared in three games for the Giants last season.

Diamondbacks: Jeremy Hellickson makes his Diamondbacks debut Wednesday after arriving in a trade with Tampa Bay in the offseason. He has never faced the Giants in the regular season.
