Watch: Giancarlo Stanton hits home run over bleachers at Dodger Stadium
If you were watching the Dodgers-Marlins game on Tuesday night you probably caught a fleeting glimpse of history.
Rightfielder Giancarlo Stanton became the fifth player in Major League history to hit a home run clear out of Dodger Stadium, and the first since Mark McGwire did it in 1999, when he unleashed a purported 478-foot bomb off of Los Angeles pitcher Mike Bolsinger.
If the 478-foot distance is confirmed, the home run would be the third longest of the 2015 season behind Nelson Cruz and Josh Donaldson, according to StatCast.
The ball had an exit velocity of 114 mph, according to BaseballSavant.com. ESPN measured the distance of the home run at 467 feet.

Stanton's homer would be the only run the Marlins would muster, however, as the Dodgers won 11–1.
