Angels place Cowgill on DL

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) The Los Angeles Angels have placed outfielder Collin Cowgill on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 26, because of a sprained right wrist, which occurred while he was taking batting practice on Sunday.

The defending AL West champions also designated outfielder Marc Krauss for assignment and selected the contract of outfielder Alfredo Marte from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Outfielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis reported to the team Thursday, a day after he was acquired from the New York Mets.
