Yadier Molina passes Buster Posey in latest NL All-Star voting update

In the latest update released Tuesday by Major League Baseball, St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina retook the voting lead among National League catchers from San Francisco Giants backstop Buster Posey.

Posey overtook Molina in last week’s NL update, but the latest totals released Tuesday show Molina with 2,639,744 votes and Posey with 2,634,846.

Washington Nationals rightfielder Bryce Harper leads all NL players with 3,690,414 votes, followed by Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter.

Among first baseman, the Arizona DiamondbacksPaul Goldschmidt (2,010,049) overtook the Los Angeles DodgersAdrian Gonzalez (1,882,725) for the NL lead.

Fans do not choose pitchers for the All-Star teams.

On Monday, MLB released the latest voting totals for the American League, featuring a slew of Kansas City Royalsleading their respective positions.

The next NL voting update will be released June 16. The All-Star game will be played July 14 at the Cincinnati Reds’ Great American Ball Park.
