Bautista, Reyes and Navarro homer, Blue Jays beat Rays 8-5

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) Toronto Blue Jays manager John Gibbons got his 500th major league win Monday night, and easily explained the big number.

''That shows I've been around a long time,'' Gibbons said.

Tampa Bay shortstop Asdrudal Cabrera didn't stick around so long in Toronto's 8-5 victory. He got ejected and some of his equipment got tossed, too.

Cabrera was thrown out by plate umpire Kerwin Danley for arguing a called third strike in the fifth.

Heading back to the dugout, Cabrera threw his helmet and bat toward the mound. Umpire crew chief Joe West picked them up and gave them to a stadium security official located in the umpire locker room walkway.

''Bad conduct ... Doesn't deserve a comment,'' West told a pool reporter.

Cabrera left the locker room before it was opened to reporters postgame.

''Maybe he wants him to sign it? I'm not sure,'' Rays manager Kevin Cash said of West. ''I have no idea. First I've ever seen.''

Jose Bautista hit his 15th homer, a go-ahead drive during a four-run sixth inning. Jose Reyes and Dioner Navarro also homered for Toronto, 2-6 against Tampa Bay this season.

A section of stadium lights went out in the top of the fourth, but the decision was made to keep playing after a three-minute delay. Those lights came back on an inning later.

Bautista's leadoff shot against Matt Andriese (2-2) broke a 3-all tie. Reliever Ronald Belisario gave up the other three runs in the inning that included an RBI double by Chris Colabello.

Drew Hutchison (7-1) allowed three runs and nine hits over five taxing innings. He struck out six, walked two and hit a batter during a 109-pitch outing.

''Probably did a good job of grinding and giving our offense a chance,'' Hutchison said. ''As they've been all year, they were huge.''

Down 8-5, the Rays loaded the bases with one out in the eighth. Roberto Osuna struck out Steven Souza Jr. and Nick Franklin and pitched the ninth for his first save.

''Can't say enough about Osuna,'' Gibbons said.

Osuna struck out five in two hitless innings.

Andriese gave up four runs and five hits in 5 1-3 innings as Tampa Bay lost for the third time in 11 games. The Rays had given up a combined six runs on a just completed 4-1 road trip.

Logan Forsythe hit a solo shot in a two-run seventh that got the Rays within 7-5.

TRAINER'S ROOM

Blue Jays: 2B Devon Travis (shoulder) could return this week. ... 3B Josh Donaldson was rested.

Rays: RHP Jake Odorizzi (oblique) threw off a mound and could make a rehab start next week. ... 1B James Loney (broken left middle finger) is set to take dry swings late this week. ... LHP Matt Moore (elbow surgery) appears on target to return late this month or early July.

NEW START

OF Grady Sizemore was hitless in two at-bats during his first game Monday night with Class A Charlotte. After being released by Philadelphia, he signed a minor league contract with Tampa Bay on June 15. ... INF Tim Beckham (strained right hamstring) went 1 for 2 during his first appearance as the DH.

NUMBERS GAME II

Hutchison has a 5.33 ERA, but is getting a major league-best 8.27 runs per game of support. ... Blue Jays 1B Edwin Encarnacion went 0 for 4 and has four hits in his last 52 at-bats against Tampa Bay. ... Rays RHP Steve Geltz pitched a perfect ninth and set a team record by retiring 28 consecutive batters.

MOVING DAY

The Rays optioned LHP Enny Romero to Triple-A Durham after the game. The corresponding move was not announced.

UP NEXT

Toronto knuckleballer R.A. Dickey (3-6), activated Monday from bereavement list, will face Rays RHP Chris Archer (8-4) Tuesday night. Archer allowed four hits and struck out 18 over 14 scoreless innings in two previous starts this season against Toronto.
