Miguel Gonzalez activated from disabled list by Orioles

BOSTON (AP) Pitcher Miguel Gonzalez has been activated from the 15-day disabled list by the Baltimore Orioles to start a series finale against the Boston Red Sox.

The 31-year old right-hander was placed on the disabled list on June 10 because of a strained right groin. He is 5-4 with a 3.33 ERA.

Baltimore optioned Mychal Givens to Double-A Bowie on Thursday to open a roster spot. The 26-year-old right-hander pitched a perfect eighth inning in his major league debut Wednesday in Baltimore's 5-1 loss, striking out Mike Napoli.
