Right-leaning McCain comes up short in foul ball bid

PHOENIX (AP) The ball from the left and John McCain leaned to the right.

Not much surprise from the Republican senator from Arizona.

An avid Arizona Diamondbacks fan, McCain was taking in a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night when a foul ball flew in his direction.

The foul by Dodgers shortstop Jimmy Rollins landed in the seats, took a big bounce and caromed into McCain's lap. He wasn't able to react fast enough, throwing his hands up in disgust as the ball rolled back toward the field.

A fan tried to give McCain the ball, but he waved it off.
