ST. LOUIS (AP) Yangervis Solarte of the San Diego Padres was ejected for arguing a strikeout on a checked swing in the sixth inning against the Cardinals on Thursday night.

Solarte slammed his helmet to the ground and yelled at plate umpire Bob Davidson before getting tossed.

First base umpire David Rackley had confirmed the strikeout on appeal.
