CINCINNATI (AP) The Cincinnati Reds have placed assistant hitting coach Lee Tinsley on administrative leave following his arrest on Thursday morning on a charge of driving while impaired.
Tinsley, 46, was booked into the Carroll County (Ky.) jail on one count of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
''We're still gathering information,'' Reds manager Bryan Price said before Friday's game. ''With the holiday week, the police report won't be out until next week. He's been placed on administrative leave. That's about as much as we're going to say about that.''
Tinsley played in the majors for five years and is a 1987 graduate of Shelby County (Ky.) High School. He's in his second season with the Reds after spending five seasons as the first base coach for Arizona and Seattle and three as the Cubs' minor-league outfield/baserunning coordinator.
