The Yankees have placed outfielder Carlos Beltran on the 15-day disabled list with a left oblique strain, the team announced Friday.

The move is retroactive to Wednesday, July 1. The Yankees recalled outfielder Ramon Flores and infielder Gregorio Petit from Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre and optioned outfielder Taylor Dugas to Scranton.

Beltran, 38, is batting .260 with seven home runs and 30 RBIs this season in 66 games. His likely replacement is Garrett Jones, who has hit .231 with five home runs in 108 at-bats.

New York has been without centerfielder Jacoby Ellsbury, who has been out with a knee injury since May 20. He began a rehab assignment with Class A Tampa earlier this week.

The Yankees were tied for first place in the AL East with the Baltimore Orioles at 42–37 as of Friday morning.
