Texas Rangers first baseman Kyle Blanks will have season-ending surgery on both Achilles on Friday, according to a report by ESPN's Jerry Crasnick.

Blanks, who first went on the disabled list in June with tendonitis in his Achilles, will undergo the surgery in Dallas.

The Pennsylvania-native has appeared in just 18 games for the Rangers this season. He batted .241 with three home runs and six RBIs in 67 at-bats for Texas.

Blanks was selected by the San Diego Padres in the 42nd round of the 2004 draft. He has played for the Padres, A's and Rangers in his seven MLB seasons.
