Report: Stephen Piscotty rejoining Cardinals after collision

Stephen Piscotty will reportedly rejoin the Cardinals for Wednesday's doubleheader against the Pirates.

Cardinals leftfielder Stephen Piscotty will rejoin the team for Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Pirates, reports’s Jenifer Langosch.

Piscotty has been resting at the hospital and is expected to be with the team before the first game on Wednesday afternoon. Piscotty was released from the hospital Tuesday after colliding with teammate Peter Bourjos during Monday night's game in Pittsburgh.

Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak has indicated Piscotty could return to the lineup before the end of the regular season Sunday.

All tests came back negative, but Piscotty had remained hospitalized overnight for observation. He was injured in the seventh inning when his head appeared to make contact with Bourjos’s knee as they both dove for a ball in the left-centerfield gap. Jon Jay took over for Piscotty in leftfield.
