Report: Chase Utley passed concussion test after Tejada collision
Dodgers second baseman Chase Utley passed a concussion test after his collision with Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada Saturday night, Dylan Hernandez of The Los Angeles Timesreports.
Utley collided with Tejada in the bottom of the seventh inning while trying to break up a double play. Utley’s head first hit Tejada’s knee and then knocked against the ground. After he was ruled safe on review, Utley stayed in the game to run the bases.
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly told reporters Sunday that Utley could be in the starting lineup for Monday’s Game 3.
Tejada broke his right fibula in the collision, and many current and former MLB players reacted strongly to Utley’s takeout slide.
Utley told Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports that he reached out to David Wright to apologize to Tejada.
