Strike Zone podcast: Wrapping up World Series and Royals' unlikely title

On this special bonus edition of The Strike Zone podcast, Ted Keith and Stephen Cannella wrap up the World Series and break down the Royals' run to the title.

The World Series is over, and the Royals have emerged as baseball's champions for the 2015 season. But before we bid goodbye to Kansas City and the second-place Mets, let's take one last look at a wild and unpredictable Fall Classic.

On this special bonus edition of The Strike Zone podcast, hosts Ted Keith and Stephen Cannella wrap up the World Series, breaking down the final three games of the series in New York and how the Royals ran their way to their first title in 30 years. Ted and Steve start by offering their general impressions of the series and how Kansas City came away with the championship before taking a deep dive into the clinching Game 5, focusing on Matt Harvey's ill-fated ninth inning and whether Terry Collins blundered by letting his ace start the inning, then jumping to Eric Hosmer's mad dash home to score the tying run in the inning and if the play was a heads-up display or an aggressive mistake that worked out for the Royals.

From there, Ted and Steve move on to looking ahead to the off-seasons of both the Royals and Mets, looking specifically at the futures of free-agents-to-be Yoenis Cespedes, Daniel Murphy, Ben Zobrist and (potentially) Alex Gordon. Finally, Steve and Ted give one last salute to the Royals, a worthy champion and one of baseball's unlikeliest success stories.
