The Los Angeles Angels have hired Ron Roenicke as third base coach, the team announced Wednesday.

Roenicke ended last season as third base coach for the Dodgers, after being fired as Brewers manager in May. He coached in the Angels organization from 2000–2010 before the Brewers hired him and coached third base during their World Series title run in 2002 under Mike Scioscia, who remains L.A.’s manager.

Roenicke interviewed for the Dodgers’ manager job but did not advance beyond the first round of interviews, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Gary DiSarcina, the Angels’ previous third base coach, will move to first base coach, the team also announced, with Alfredo Griffin moving from first base coach to infield coach.

The Angels went 85–77 last season and missed the playoffs, finishing one game behind the Houston Astros in the wild card race.
