• The Oakland Athletics announced they have acquired first baseman Yonder Alonso in a trade with the San Diego Padres in exchange for four players.

• The Houston Astrosdeclined to tender power-hitting first baseman Chris Carter, making him a free agent, reports Bob Nightengale of USA Today.
