Oakland A’s trade infielder Brett Lawrie to Chicago White Sox
The Chicago White Sox have acquired infielder Brett Lawrie from the Oakland Athletics for minor-league pitchers Zachary Erwin and J.B. Wendelken, the team announced.
Lawrie, 25, was acquired by the A’s from the Blue Jays prior to last season and hit .260 with career-highs of 16 home runs and 60 RBIs in his lone season with the team. In five major league seasons, the former top prospect has hit .263 with 59 home runs, often dealing with injuries. Lawrie can play both second and third base, both of which were revolving doors at times last season for the White Sox.

Erwin, 21, threw 40 1/3 innings in his pro debut last season with a 1.34 ERA and 0.97 WHIP between rookie and Single A ball. The lefthander and 2015 fourth-round pick out of Clemson made 15 appearance, including seven starts.
Wendelken, 22, was a 13th-round selection in 2012. The righthander posted a 3.20 ERA and 1.12 WHIP in 39 relief appearances between Double and Triple A.
