Jeff Francoeur returns to Braves on minor-league deal

The Atlanta Braves have signed outfielder Jeff Francoeur to a minor-league deal, the team announced Monday.

As part of the one-year contract, Francoeur has received an invitation to attend spring training with the team in Florida.

The 32-year-old began his MLB career with the Braves in 2005 before being traded to the New York Mets in 2009. Francoeur subsequently played for five different teams before once again landing in Atlanta.

In 11 MLB seasons, Francoeur has batted .261 with 153 home runs and 664 RBIs. In 119 games with the Philadelphia Phillies last season, he hit .258 with 13 home runs and 45 RBIs.

A 2007 Gold Glove winner, Francoeur was selected by the Braves with the 23rd pick in the 2002 draft.
