Chicago Cubs owner Tom Ricketts responded Wednesday to the criticism Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump tweeted about his family, calling the mention by Trump “surreal.”

On Monday, Trump called out the Ricketts family on Twitter for allegedly “secretly spending” money in opposition of Trump’s campaign. Marlene Ricketts, Tom’s mother, made a $3 million donation to a super PAC that has been campaigning against Trump, according to FEC filings.

“It’s a little surreal when Donald Trump threatens your mom,” Ricketts said on Wednesday, according to Yahoo! Sports. “The fact is...we are pretty much are an open book. We stand up for what we believe in. We support the causes we think are important. That is what America should be. That is who we are.”

In the tweet, Trump also mentioned that the Ricketts family should tread carefully in opposing him because they “have a lot to hide,” a notion Tom Ricketts rejected on Wednesday.

“If we had something to hide, you people would have found it by now,” he said. “I have no idea (what Trump was warning of).”

Ricketts spoke to reporters at the Cubs’ spring training facility in Mesa, Ariz., where the team reported Wednesday and will play its first home spring game on Friday.
