Report: Bronson Arroyo MRI misread, will miss 7 to 10 days

Washington Nationals pitcher Bronson Arroyo does not have a torn rotator cuff and could return after seven to 10 days, reports FOX Sports’s Ken Rosenthal.

Earlier this week, a misread MRI led Arroyo to believe he had “significantly torn” rotator cuff, which could have ended his bid for a comeback to professional baseball. The issue with his shoulder now appears to be bursa sac inflammation, according to the report.

Arroyo, 39, signed a minor league contract with Washington in hopes of making the major league rotation. He was scratched from his last start due to shoulder soreness. He underwent Tommy John surgery on his elbow in June 2014 and has not pitched in the majors since starting 14 games for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2014.

Arroyo pitched more than 199 innings each year from 2005 to 2013 with a career high of 240 2/3 innings pitched in 2006.
