LEADING OFF: Stripling starts for Dodgers after no-hit try

HE'S A BIG (NO) HIT!

Ross Stripling starts for the Dodgers after throwing 7 1/3 no-hit innings vs. the Giants in his major league debut. The 26-year-old rookie faces Arizona in his first home start. Two years removed from Tommy John surgery, the right-hander was pulled after 100 pitches with a no-hit bid intact at San Francisco and wound up with a no-decision - Striping and his parents backed that decision by first-year manager Dave Roberts.

STILL LOOKING

The Atlanta Braves and Minnesota Twins are still looking for their first victories of 2016. The 0-8 Braves are off to their worst start since starting 1988 with 10 losses, while the 0-8 Twins franchise hasn't been this bad since the Washington Senators lost the first 13 games in 1904. The Twins beat the Braves in an epic seven-game World Series in 1991, so some 25th anniversary this season is turning out to be for the two teams.

TRY AGAIN

All-Star Chris Archer makes his third attempt at his first win this season when the Rays host Cleveland. Archer is 0-2 after two tough starts vs. the Orioles and Blue Jays, giving up a combined 15 hits, four home runs and five walks in 10 innings.

CHANGE UP

The Rockies are playing the percentages and moving up lefty Jorge De La Rosa by a day to start vs. San Francisco. He'll still be on regular rest when he takes the mound with a 48-16 career record at Coors Field - he owns 12 more wins than any other pitcher at the ballpark. ''Anytime you have an opportunity to get De La in this park you take it,'' manager Walt Weiss said. ''History tells you it's a winning formula.''

KEEP THE COLES WARM

Cole Hamels (2-0, 2.08 ERA) starts when Texas takes on Baltimore to open a seven-game homestand. He's overcome six walks in 13 innings and has struck out 12.

ZZZs FOR THOSE BATS

Jordan Zimmermann makes his second start of the season after dazzling in his Detroit debut, throwing seven shutout innings of two-hit ball against the Yankees. Zimmermann pitches at PNC Park against Pirates ace Gerrit Cole.
