Pirates call up infielder Jason Rogers from Triple-A Indy

PITTSBURGH (AP) The Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday recalled infielder Jason Rogers from Triple-A Indianapolis and optioned infielder Cole Figueroa to the same team.

The 28-year-old Rogers was optioned to Indianapolis on the final day of spring training and hit .366 (15-for-41) with four doubles, three home runs and 10 RBI in 11 Triple-A games this season.

He went 2 for 4 with a solo home Thursday night against Louisville and produced a 1.118 OPS in his 11 games with the Indians. He made three starts at first base, three at third and five as the designated hitter. The Pirates are on the road at Arizona.

Figueroa was the lone rookie position player on the Pirates active roster and went hitless in nine at bats.
