Boston Red Sox outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. had his league-best 29-game hitting streak snapped at the hands of the Colorado Rockies on Thursday.
Bradley finished the game 0 for 4, putting the ball in play during all of his at-bats, but grounding out and flying out twice.
He falls just five games short of matching Dom DiMaggio’s franchise record 34-game hitting streak from 1949. The streak is tied with Johnny Damon’s 2005 streak for fourth-longest in Red Sox’s history.
Bradley’s hitting outburst, which started on April 24, is already better than Edwin Encarnacion’s league-high of 26 games in 2015.
The longest hitting streak in the MLB now belongs to Red Sox teammate Xander Bogaerts, who extended his streak to 19 games with a single in the bottom of the first inning.
