Vegas Native Bryce Harper: 'Can't Fathom the Horrific Event That has Taken Place'

The Las Vegas native said "the pride of Vegas runs deep" and that his thoughts and prayers went out to the families affected. 

Washington Nationals outfielder and Las Vegas native Bryce Harper tweeted his condolences Monday to those impacted by the mass shooting that occurred Sunday night in Las Vegas. 

Harper said that "the pride of Vegas runs deep" and that he "can't fathom the horrific event that has taken place." 

A lone gunman open fired from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino on an outdoor concert festival, killing at least 50 people and injuring over 400 people, according to The New York Times. Country music star Jason Aldean was performing at the Route 91 Harvest Festival when the shooting began.

The University of Nevada Las Vegas hockey team tweeted that assistant coach Nick Robone was injured in the shooting.
