A fan at Yankee Stadium was ejected before Game 4 of the ALCS on Thursday after reportedly taunting Astros pitcher Zack Greinke, according to NJ.com's Brendan Kuty.
Multiple fans reportedly took part in the mocking of Greinke, per Kuty. The Astros' Game 4 starter was reportedly insulted for his "battles with a social anxiety disorder and depression." Fans also allegedly made crude remarks regarding Greinke's mother.
Astros manager A.J. Hinch expressed concern over the conditions at Yankee Stadium on Thursday after outfielder Josh Reddick said water bottles and other objects were thrown at him during Game 3 on Tuesday.
“I will pull the team off the field if we get in that situation again where bottles are being thrown and balls are being thrown and it becomes unruly,” Hinch said. “It would be a very ugly scene for baseball, a very ugly seen for the Yankees, if one of our guys was hit by something from the upper deck. Something tragic could happen and nobody wants that.”
Additional police officers were added to the area surrounding the Astros bullpen after the taunts of Greinke. The veteran righthander threw 4 1/3 innings on Thursday, allowing one run.
Houston entered Thursday leading the ALCS 2–1.
