Reds Make Undesirable MLB History Amid Losing Streak vs. Brewers

The Reds were shut out by the Brewers on Saturday, marking their third consecutive loss against their NL Central rivals.

The offense has been practically non-existent for Cincinnati during the losing streak. In fact, the Reds’ lineup has been historically bad during its last three games, all of which have been shutout losses.

According to ESPN Stats and Info, Cincinnati is the first MLB team in at least 130 years to record fewer than eight hits with zero runs across a three-game span.

The Reds were held to just one hit during Saturday’s 3–0 loss against Milwaukee. That game came on the heels of a two-hit outing during a 1–0 loss on Friday. On July 9, the team’s final game before the All-Star break, Cincinnati mustered just four hits in a 1–0 road loss against the Brew Crew.

Despite having had been one of MLB’s hottest teams in June and early July, the club has yet to shake off the rust coming out of the All-Star break. The Reds have still yet to put a run on the board since getting back onto the field.

To make matters worse, Saturday’s loss saw the Brewers claim sole possession of the division lead, with Cincinnati now a full game behind.

The Reds will look to get back on track during their series finale on Sunday before they host the Giants in a four-game series that starts Monday.
