Alex Rodriguez Revealed Identities of All-Star PED Users to Feds, per Report
Former Yankees star Alex Rodriguez named three other MLB players who used performance-enhancing drugs during a 2014 meeting with federal agents.
As detailed in an ESPN report by Mike Fish, Rodriguez revealed that he learned the names from Biogenesis founder Anthony Bosch, who provided the slugger and other MLB stars with banned substances. Manny Ramirez and Ryan Braun were named by Rodriguez, in addition to a third All-Star player who wasn’t identified by name in the ESPN story.
The unnamed player never failed a PED test and was thus never suspended. Ramirez received two separate suspensions from MLB for testing positive for PEDs, with penalties costing him 150 games. Braun was suspended for 65 games.
Rodriguez named the players while meeting with two assistant U.S. attorneys from the Department of Justice and seven DEA agents. The three-time American League MVP was granted special “Queen For a Day” immunity, which protected him from later prosecution.

The interview took place less than a month after A-Rod received a 211-game suspension for PED use that included the entire 2014 MLB season. Rodriguez admitted to using PEDs purchased from Bosch, which he previously denied both publicly and privately to then-Yankees president Randy Levine.
Rodriguez declined to provide comment for ESPN’s story, despite currently working for the network as a TV analyst. He will leave ESPN after the 2023 MLB season, having signed an exclusive contract with Fox Sports.
