Corey Seager Becomes Fourth Player Ever to Win Multiple World Series MVPs
Rangers shortstop Corey Seager won his second World Series MVP on Wednesday night after Texas beat the Diamondbacks in Game 5 to capture its first franchise title after 63 years.
With this award, Seager became just the fourth MLB player since 1955—when the award came into existence—to win two World Series MVPs, joining Sandy Koufax, Bob Gibson and Reggie Jackson. Seager was previously named World Series MVP on the Dodgers in 2020.
Just Seager and Jackson have won the award on two different teams. Jackson, also known nicknamed “Mr. October,” earned the award with the Athletics in 1973 and the Yankees in ‘77.
That’s pretty good company in the history books at just 29 years old.
Through the five World Series games, Seager hit three home runs, scored six runs and racked up six RBIs.
In his 66 at-bats this postseason run, the shortstop finished with six home runs, 18 runs, 21 hits and 12 RBIs. He averaged .318/.451/1.133.
