The 2023 World baseball Classic could not have ended on a more perfect note. Every Angels fan in existence was wishing for a championship game of Team USA vs Team Japan and, even though not both of their superstars could come out victorious, one of them would come out with the crown.

The clip of the final pitch Shohei Ohtani threw that struck out Mike Trout is going to go down as one of the greatest plays in baseball history as there were so many narratives surrounding it. Trout hasn't had the best of luck with injuries these past few years and many fans that once regarded him as the top MLB player have now gifted that title to Ohtani (including ESPN themselves).

However, it doesn't look Trout wants this to be the final showdown as he has been quoted as saying that his star teammate won round one and that Team USA will be back. This is great news to hear and Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report has doubled down on the pleads from the MLB world for the three-time MVP to lead the red, white, and blue come 2026 again. He loves that he has agreed to return and wants him to recruit more stars again.

"Trout has already verbally committed to playing for Team USA again in 2026, so that's one MVP winner who'll be coming back. Betts would make that two if he also re-ups for '26. And for his part, Harper was set to add his own MVP credentials to this year's squad before Tommy John surgery nixed the idea."

It would be great for the baseball world once again to see a potential rematch of USA vs Japan. Who knows where everybody's careers will be by then, but that is the beauty of the WBC taking place every four years. It allows new stars to emerge and see how special it is to represent their home country.

Even if the rematch doesn't happen, we will always have the 2023 WBC championship. Not many franchises can say their two best players faced off to battle for an international title and it will be in the history books forever.
