Shohei Ohtani is going to make history this offseason and we know that no matter how this season plays out. Should the Angels defy most popular opinions and make a solid playoff push, he will have a solid argument in front of him as to why he should remain loyal and take a huge contract from them.

Then you have opposing clubhouses such as the LA Dodgers, New York Mets, and San Diego Padres. These are three franchises that have not been scared to invest big-time money in their superstars and it's only going to go higher for them should they want the most versatile star in baseball right now.

As to exactly how much the 18-year-old pitcher will garner, it looks like the consensus number that most experts have agreed on is around $500 million. This is already groundbreaking due to the fact that nobody has sniffed a deal around this amount.

Ohtani's star teammate, Mike Trout, agreed to terms on an extension with the Angels a couple of years ago worth $426 million over 12 years and that already set him apart from the rest of the league's best players in Mookie Betts, Aaron Judge, and Manny Machado.

But it gets better, one MLB executive has predicted that the Japanese icon will not become just the highest-paid player in the MLB, but the highest-paid athlete in American sports history.

One MLB executive on an ESPN panel predicts Shohei Ohtani to sign an 11-year, $605 million contract.

That’s $55 million a year, and would shatter the record for the largest contract in American sports history. He would likely make close to $100 million a year with endorsements.

NFL quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs came about $100 million off of this potential Ohtani deal as he is currently on a $500 million contract.

Ohtani would completely re-write what it means to be a professional athlete in America and his impact on the sport of baseball would skyrocket to levels we've never seen.
