Former Houston Astros star and fan favorite Yuli Gurriel just did something no one else has done.

More impressively, it's because of his age.

During the third inning of Thursday's game against the Colorado Rockies, Gurriel, now playing for the Miami Marlins, hit a triple, his second in as many games. That triple made him the oldest player to triple in consecutive games since Kenny Lofton did it for the Cleveland Guardians in 2007. 

Gurriel accomplished the feat at 38 years and 350 days old. 

It's tough news seeing Gurriel continue to perform well, no matter how much Astros fans love him. After letting him walk in favor of signing Jose Abreu to a three-year, $58.6 million contract, Gurriel has gone on to accumulate a 118 OPS+ (MLB avg. 100) while Abreu has a 51 OPS+.

It's a grueling reality, especially when Houston is currently lacking production at the first base position. Instead of seeing Gurriel continue to tear it up for the Astros in the twilight of his career, they have a high-dollar new comer in which debates about benching, replacements and even DFA have crept up. 

Still, breaking an obscure, yet very impressive record, is still something Gurriel can be celebrated for.
