Houston Astros Pitching Prospect Makes 'Team of the Week'

In this story:
The Houston Astros have been able to develop the pitching position well in recent years. Two of their past prospects are playing a big role in the rotation with rookies Hunter Brown and J.P. France getting their first real workload in the MLB.
Despite their pipeline consistently ranked at the bottom of the league according to scouts who rank talent in the minors, the prospects that come through the Astros' pipeline turn into good players more often than not.
13 of Houston's Top 30 prospects are pitchers, but one of those players made MLB.com's Prospect Team of the Week.
Left handed rookie Trey Dombroski only started one game during last week, but did enough to make the roster. He had his best career start at the professional level, throwing 5.0 hitless innings and striking out 11 batters.
The 20th ranked prospect in the Astros' farm system was selected in the fourth round of the 2022 MLB Draft out of Monmouth University. He currently plays for the Single-A affiliate Fayetteville Woodpeckers where he's appeared in 23 games, starting 14.
It's been a struggle for Dombroski so far in his career, posting a record of 4-9 with a 3.94 ERA. He's shown the ability to strike batters out during his appearances, racking up 132 strikeouts in 105.0 innings pitched
The 22-year-old has been rotated between the starting rotation and bullpen this season as a long reliever. Scouts project him as a "high-floor backend of the rotation" type of player if he can't add more power to his game eventually.
Coming off his best career performance earning him Team of the Week honors, eyes will be on the Single-A prospect to see if he an duplicate that success in his next appearance.
