Blue Jays Finally Reinstate Vladimir Guerrero, No IL Stint for Gimenez

The Jays are getting their first baseman back and everyone is hoping that his slug is finally back.

This past weekend, the Toronto Blue Jays lost the face of their organization when Vladimir Guerrero Jr. collided with the New York Yankees third baseman while scoring a run. Still, the hit was hard enough that Vladdy was forced into concussion protocol.

Guerrero left the game immediately and as their skipper has had his own health problems with a plethora of concussions, he was not taking any chances; the health of John Schneider's players always comes first.

That being said, Guerrero Jr. has rejoined the ball club in New York after a rehab game with Dunedin went spectacularly, and he cleared protocol. In his first at-bat, he smoked a double, which is the extra-base hit the Jays are in desperate need of, so hopefully it translates.

Everybody knew that their first baseman was coming back Saturday, the first day he was eligible to come off the 7-Day concussion list. Hamstring injuries piled up in Florida against the Tampa Bay Rays, so the corresponding move was not to be decided until the coaching staff saw how their 3x Gold Glove shortstop felt pre-game on Saturday.

Gimenez won't be playing for the second consecutive game, but it looks like he is feeling good enough that he won't have to be placed on the dreaded injured list. So, it was Davis Schneider who was sent back to Buffalo after being recalled Friday when Josh Smith went on the 10-Day IL with hamstring inflammation.

With a lefty on the mound, Toronto is starting a slew of right-handed bats as leadoff man Brett Bateman is going to be the only one swinging as a left-hander Saturday afternoon.

Nobody in baseball is hotter than the man behind the dish, Alejandro Kirk. Kirk is hitting well over .300 in his last 30 games and is on a 10-game hit streak. He is once again at the top of the order, which is a place that he will stay for the foreseeable future.

The Blue Jays are 11-0 following a loss over the last month, a very impressive streak that the ballclub looks to continue on today, and with Dylan Cease on the bump they are set up to do just that.
