Atlanta Braves 2024 Regular Season Schedule Released

Atlanta is currently set to open the season in Philly and end it against Kansas City

The unofficial second half of the 2023 season begins tomorrow night when the White Sox visit Atlanta, but the Braves and Major League Baseball as a whole are already looking ahead to 2024 with the release of the full regular season schedule today.

The questions about which interleague games you're going to get aren't as pressing now that everybody plays everybody at least once, but there are still some points of interest here.

- The season begins on the road again. After opening at Washington this season, the Braves open at Philadelphia in 2024, with a three-game series set to begin on Thursday, March 28th. The customary in-series off-day follows that Friday before the set concludes over the weekend. The Braves then visit the White Sox for three before playing their home opener. This will be the fourth time in seven years the Braves have opened against the Phils, with three of those in Philly.

- Said home opener will take place against the Diamondbacks. As was the case this year, the Braves will not have the customary in-series off day during their first homestand, as a three-game weekend set with Arizona is chased by a four-game mid-week stretch against the Mets. (The Braves played four against San Diego and three against Cincinnati to open their home slate this year, with no off day.)

- The first west coast trip comes at the end of April. Atlanta heads to Seattle on April 29th, playing three in the Emerald City before heading south to play three against the Dodgers at Chavez Ravine.

- That west coast trip is curiously followed by a two-game home series against Boston before the Braves then visit the Mets for three. Then they come back home for games with the Cubs and Padres. That is some odd scheduling.

- The All-Star break hits on July 15th. Atlanta will wrap up the first half of the season with seven games in seven days at Arizona and San Diego. A visit from the loathsome Cardinals kicks off the second half.

- The season ends with a five-game homestand against the Mets and Royals. The final regular season game is set for Sunday, September 29th.

- There, at first blush, appear to be more two-game series in here, as the Braves have a two-game road trip at Washington in September to match that weird two-game homestand in May. Just speculation from me, but I think maybe they're doing that to allow more dates for early-season rainouts to be rescheduled, particularly in divisional games.

- Also odd, the Braves have four off days in two weeks from May 2nd to May 16th, with some west coast travel causing that. Then they play 17 straight days through June 2nd.

- They have another stretch of 17 games in 17 days coming out of the All-Star break. Following the off day, it's 13 games in 13 days, with a three-city west coast swing mixed in. Then another 13-day run follows that successive off day. Talk about your dog days of August.

- It also feels like the Braves get more big home series on weekends next season. This year, most of the biggest home games have seemed to come in mid-week series. But the Diamondbacks, Rangers, Padres, Rays, Phillies, Cardinals, Blue Jays, and Dodgers all draw weekend trips to Cobb County in 2024.

Of course, if the 2023 Braves win the World Series, there might be a shift to the schedule to allow for the champion to open at home, which is customary. Otherwise, things look pretty set. It should be another fun season at Truist.
