Takeaways: Atlanta falls in game one vs the Los Angeles Angels

The Atlanta Braves looked to continue their win streak after sweeping the Milwaukee Brewers. They fell short 4-1 in the first game against the Los Angeles Angels.

Here are some takeaways from tonight's action.

Three pitches ruined the start for Charlie Morton

Charlie Morton had a solid outing, but three solo home runs ruined the Monday night start for the Braves veteran.

Morton struck out eight in six innings and kept the Angels' offense at bay, including pitching through a tough situation in the first inning that put him behind on his pitch count for the evening.

The relief pitching kept Atlanta in the game. AJ Minter and Pierce Johnson both got through a full inning with no damage done. Daysbel Hernández gave up a run in the ninth.

Matt Olson was the bright spot on offense

Olson put the Braves on the board in the fifth inning with a solo shot that was absolutely crushed. It was the Braves' 200th home run of the season.

Sadly, it was the only run of the night for Atlanta. Olson was the only member of the Atlanta lineup to have multiple hits on the night, as last minute starter Chase Silseth left Braves hitters off balance for five innings, allowing only three hits.

No hits for the bottom third of the lineup

The bottom third of the lineup has been up and down this season. In tonight's action, the trio of Eddie Rosario, Orlando Arcia, and Michael Harris Jr., did not record a hit or reach base. All three struck out in the action tonight. Harris had a twelve-game hit streak that was broken at the plate tonight.

There have been discussions on how Atlanta would handle the trade deadline if they were able to trade for an outfielder. Worth following over the next few days.

What's next for the Atlanta Braves
