WATCH: Braves plate four and reclaim the lead against the Mets

It took a while, but the Atlanta offense finally puts up a crooked number against Carlos Carrasco and the Mets

It's been a bit of a frustrating night for the Braves and their fans so far. A lengthy rain delay that featured no rain pushed first pitch back over 90 minutes, and the near capacity crowd grew restless. Then an early solo homer by Ozzie Albies was quickly answered by two two-out, two-run homers from the Mets. Then to compound matters, Pete Alonso, who hit the second of those two homers, did the other thing he's really good at.

Meanwhile, outside of the Ozzie tater, the Braves kept whiffing on chances to put runs on the board against veteran Mets starter Carlos Carrasco. Sean Murphy hit into an inning-ending double play in the first with runners at the corners, and certainly he wanted to make amends for that. After Matt Olson walked and Austin Riley doubled to start the bottom of the sixth, he got his chance.

That double chased Carrasco, with Napoleon Buck Showalter going to the 'pen immediately afterward. Drew Smith was the first man out of the chute for New York, and he handled Eddie Rosario and Ozzie Albies with relative ease. With the tying run still at second and now two outs, Marcell Ozuna came to the plate, perhaps looking for some redemption of his own after his 415-foot single in Phoenix over the weekend. Spoiler alert - he got it.

But the fun wasn't over there. Here comes Orlando Arcia, who continues to do good things for this club.

Is the Braves' bench enjoying this, particularly in light of earlier remarks by a certain world champion division champion two-time Home Run Derby-winner? Yes, it would seems so.

The game broadcast, with Voice of the Braves Brandon Gaudin, is available inside Braves Country on Bally Sports South and is available on both TBS and MLB.TV outside of the broadcast area. The radio call, with Ben Ingram, is available locally on 680 AM/93.7 FM The Fan or outside the Atlanta market on the Atlanta Braves Radio Network or MLB.com.
