Braves Briefing: Are more one-sided series coming this postseason?

The MLB Postseason may feature more one-sided series leading into the World Series.

Braves Briefing: Are more one-sided series coming this postseason?

There hasn't been a ton of drama this MLB postseason.

The wildcard round resulted in all four winners completing a 2-0 sweep. In the division series, two of the four series finished on a 3-0 sweep, while Houston and Philadelphia won 3-1.

Texas has jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the ALCS over the Houston Astros and with the way the Phillies look to be playing, their 1-0 lead over Arizona seems like it could shift quickly.

Is the lack of a competitive product good for the MLB in the playoffs? Attendance is up across the league but appealing to the casual baseball fan with no final games of the series so far has been a shame.

Very few things are better than a dramatic final game five, or an eventual game seven.

MLB Post Season Update

Texas beat Houston 5-4 Monday night to go up 2-0 in the ALCS.

Philadelphia beat Arizona 5-3 to go up 1-0 in the NLCS.

Tuesday night:

Arizona is at Philadelphia for game two of the NLCS. First pitch is at 8:07 pm ET on TBS.

Jake Mastroianni wrote about the case for and against bringing back Charlie Morton this offseason. Here was part of what he wrote:

First and foremost, the Braves love having Morton around for his leadership in the clubhouse and what he can teach the young group of pitchers.
It's why they were willing to give him another $20 million for 2023 knowing his production might not correlate with that amount of money.
But it's not like Morton was terrible in 2023 with a 3.64 ERA, 14 wins, and a 10.08 K/9 in 163.1 innings.
Another huge positive for bringing Morton back is that he gives you innings. The 163.1 innings he pitched in 2023 were the fewest he's thrown in a full season since 2017.
