Braves Briefing: Atlanta needs one more win

The Atlanta Braves need one more win to secure home-field advantage for the postseason.

As Atlanta sits at 101-56, one more win would clinch home field away from the Los Angeles Dodgers. That win could come against the Chicago Cubs tonight. They also will play their final series of the season against the Washington Nationals.

Atlanta will have plenty of opportunities to secure home-field advantage and play most of their playoff games at Truist Park.

NL Wildcard Standings

The Atlanta Braves have won the NL East and secured a first-round bye but we're closely watching the Wild Card race as Atlanta will play the winner of the Wild Card series pitting the top two wild card finishers in the Divisional Round.

Last night, the Philadelphia Phillies secured one of the wildcard spots.

Braves Today's Lindsay Crosby covered the action Tuesday night. He highlighted Dansby Swanson being given a warm welcome in his return to Atlanta.

Swanson, who started at shortstop in Atlanta for six years and won the 2021 World Series with the team, made his return to Atlanta after signing a seven year, $177M contract with the Chicago Cubs last offseason.
He got a hero's welcome.
The Braves played a video tribute to Dansby during pregame ceremonies, with the Atlanta fans giving Dansby a standing ovation. They repeated the standing ovation during the shortstop's first at-bat, showing their appreciation to "Lieutenant Dans."

Check out the full list of takeaways.

What's next for the Braves?

Atlanta and Chicago meet again Wednesday night in Truist Park at 7:20 PM ET, with Jameson Taillon starting for the Cubs. The Braves announced after the game that Darius Vines would get the start.
