Braves Briefing: Someone bought the base that Ronald Acuña Jr used to make history

Someone bought history this weekend.

The game used base that was in the game for the first three innings when Ronald Acuña Jr'. stole his 71st and 72nd base on the 2023 was put up for auction, with the proceeds benefitting the Atlanta Braves Foundation.

The listing closed on Sunday for $6,150.00.

The item description reads as follows:

MLB Authenticated Game Used Stolen Base (2nd Base, used innings 1-3) Ronald Acuna Jr. stole this base for his 71st and 72nd on the season against the Washington Nationals on 9/29/23 in Truist ParkNet proceeds from this sale will benefit the Atlanta Braves Foundation's community outreach efforts.

Personally, I thought this would sell for more, though I haven't studied the market on stolen bases. In this era of sports memorabilia collections, where we see sports cards sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars, this base for a little over six grand seems like a good deal to have a cool part of an MLB record that capped of an MVP campaign.
