Happy Thanksgiving, Braves Country!

I'm thankful that baseball is more than just a sport.

Happy Thanksgiving, Braves Country!

Happy Thanksgiving, Braves Country! We have a lot to be thankful for as fans of the best team in baseball. The Braves season did not end the way any of us expected it to but Atlanta still had the best record in the MLB. We're only two years removed from winning the World Series and with Alex Anthopoulos at the helm, the Braves will be in contention for a long time.

I want to chat with you about something else, though. Sure, we are thankful for the Braves and the game of baseball, but baseball is way more than just a sport. It's more than nine players on the field, a batter, a bat, and a ball. Baseball is a sport that can create lifelong memories.

If you grew up in the same kind of household I did, everybody loved the Braves. My dad used to walk around in old World Series t-shirts. It was all Braves all the time. The first Braves game I went to was the Braves against the Red Sox in 2009. I still remember that game 14 years later. I remember where I was the night the Braves won the World Series in 2021. I bought my dad a shirt that was in the same kind of font as his old 90's World Series shirts.

I want you to think back. You probably have a story of your own. You may have gone fishing with your grandpa and listened to Braves games on the radio or your parents may have taken you to games when you were younger. You may have a story of an old friend that you haven't seen in a while. Baseball has the power to make those memories flood back to you.

I lost one of my best friends on September 28, 2021. Less than two months before the Braves finally won the World Series again on November 2, 2021. If you had ever met him, you'd find out that there were two things he loved more than most. Jesus and the Atlanta Braves. One of the first things I did after the Braves won the pennant was go out to his grave site. He would have loved watching that win. He would have loved celebrating that win and talking about it for years with our friend Jonathan and myself.

Two years later I still reminisce on our conversation about Braves baseball and whether AA and Brian Snitker were making the right moves or not. Maybe you have someone like that. Maybe your parents or grandparents have passed on but you still have the memories you made with them that will last a lifetime.

We can be thankful for more than just baseball on Thanksgiving. We can be thankful for the memories we made with those people. We can be thankful that Braves baseball brought all of us even closer together.

There's no crying in baseball, but if you shed a tear or two reading this, no one is going to judge you. Happy Thanksgiving, Braves Country. Chop On.
