The Braves were three games short of tying the MLB record for consecutive games with a homerun

If you believe that jinxes are real, then we're sorry.

We talked yesterday morning about how Atlanta's Saturday homerun extended their streak of games with a homerun to 28, the 2nd longest such streak in MLB history. the record is held by the 2019 New York Yankees, who did it in 31 straight games.

That record will be intact.

Atlanta was held without a homerun for the first time since Friday, June 9th, where they defeated the Washington Nationals 3-2 behind two fielder's choices (Marcell Ozuna and Orlando Arcia) and an go-ahead infield single by Orlando Arcia in the 8th inning.

We Wrote It

As we were writing about Max Fried's rehab start on Saturday, friend of the program Kelly Crull reported on the Bally Sports broadcast that Max Fried's next rehab start would be an extended outing:

Friend of the program (and recent podcast guest) Kelly Crull, reporting on the Sunday broadcast for Bally Sports, said that the goal for Fried's next rehab start was set at 60 pitches. Entering the rehab phase of Fried's return, the belief was that he'd need four or five minor league starts to be ready to return to the major league rotation. A pitch count goal of 60 shows that goal should still be intact and may be on the lower end, depending on Fried's performance in the back half of that next outing.

What's next for Atlanta?

Today is a much needed off-day - several Braves mentioned to the media after yesterday's series finale that the All-Star Break didn't really feel like time off, given the cross-country flights and activities they did through the break.

Tomorrow, the Braves host Arizona in a rematch of a three game series that Atlanta won in the desert in early June. Game one of the matchup with the Diamondbacks is on Tuesday at 7:20 PM ET. The game broadcast, with Voice of the Braves Brandon Gaudin, is available inside Braves Country on Bally Sports Southeast and is available on MLB.TV outside of the broadcast area. The radio call, with Ben Ingram, is available locally on 680 AM/93.7 FM The Fan or outside the Atlanta market on the Atlanta Braves Radio Network or MLB.com.
