The Atlanta Braves, having split the first two games of the series with the Pittsburgh Pirates (and the first six games of the season), go for the series and season victory this afternoon at Truist Park. Recently called up Allan Winans will get the ball for Atlanta, while the Pirates counter with Luis Ortiz in the Sunday matinee.

Pitching Matchup for the Atlanta Braves and Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday, September 10th

Starting for the Braves is Allan Winans. 1-1 with a 5.17 ERA in his three starts for the Braves, the right-hander made his MLB debut against the Milwaukee Brewers on the road in late July. After a decent start (4.1 IP, 5H, 2 ER with 1BB and 5Ks), Winans got his next opportunity against the New York Mets, his former team. He dominated the Mets in Citi Field, going seven scoreless innings with four hits and two walks, striking out nine, but stumbled in a repeat matchup at home against that same team and was sent back down to AAA Gwinnett.

Opposing Atlanta is Luis Ortiz. 4-4 with a 4.90 ERA in 14 games (12 starts), Ortiz has struck out 48 in his 68 innings of work, walking 36. He's never faced Atlanta in his eighteen career MLB games dating back to last season, and no Braves hitter has a career plate appearance against him.
